St Anne’s Infant School in Alma Road/Clewer Fields.

At some point possibly around 1855 the school was extended to have on site Holy Trinity (Girls Elementary)

The Infant School St Anne’s seems to have closed in 1922

Holy Trinity Log Book, February 1866 – received notice this morning that the guardians will pay the fees of Emma P and xxxxxx for 1 month.

1871 pupil numbers from the first Government Inspection indicate: Girls 112 Infant 120. The report goes on to recommend Infant room be duly furnished and placed under a certified mistress (not a pupil teacher)

The Holy Trinity School Register, which records the reason why children left the school, states quite simply that Margaret Blake’s family was ‘too poor to pay’. She started at the school in October 1869 and left in June 1870 age ten.
